University of South Florida Baycare Family Medicine Program

The PGY2 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Residency at the Turley Family Health Centre is a 12-month program that provides specialized training in ambulatory care. The Turley Family Health Center is the master practice site for our program with opportunities to gain experience at other locations. The Turley Family Health Eye is office of Morton Plant Hospital in BayCare Health System.

Turley Family Health Center is the educational activity site for the Academy of South Florida Morton Plant Mease Family Medicine Residency Plan. The ambulatory care residency is designed for chemist's residents to interact with other healthcare providers in the setting of a Patient-Centered Medical Habitation. Nosotros strive to improve patient outcomes through directly patient care and interprofessional education.

Our program emphasizes collaborative patient care and avant-garde medication management for chronic health conditions with Collaborative Practice Agreements. We provide care for a broad primary care population, with rotations in Pediatrics and Geriatrics. Rotations off-site include Population Wellness, Transitions of Care, Ambulatory Pharmacy Management, and Psychiatry.

The PGY2 Ambulatory Intendance program is designed to ensure residents possess competencies that authorize them for clinical chemist and/or faculty positions and eligibility for attainment of board certification in Convalescent Intendance Pharmacy.

PGY2 pharmacy residency programs build on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and PGY1 pharmacy residency programs to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists in specialized areas of practice. PGY2 residencies provide residents with opportunities to part independently every bit practitioners by conceptualizing and integrating accumulated feel and knowledge and incorporating both into the provision of patient care or other advanced exercise settings. Requirements for Acceptance:

  • The applicant must participate in the Match process
  • Online application through PhORCAS
    • Letter of intent
    • Current curriculum vitae
    • Three letters of recommendation
    • Official transcripts from all colleges of pharmacy attended
  • Pharm.D. degree from an ACPE accredited college of chemist's or i in process of pursuing accreditation
  • Successful completion of an ASHP accredited PGY1 residency prior to the commencement of the PGY2 residency program
  • The bidder must take active Florida chemist license within 90 days of the residency first date
  • The applicant must participate in a formal interview

Application Process:
Residency candidates should submit all requirements for credence through the PhORCAS website. In one case submitted, applications will be reviewed, and candidates will be selected for interviews. After interviews are completed, a rank list will be submitted to ASHP via the National Matching Service. The ASHP Resident Matching Programme will provide the program with the matched candidates.

Dr. Johns received his Pharm.D. Degree from the University of Florida in 1991. He after completed his residency in Adult Internal Medicine at Florida Hospital in Orlando.
